RENEX Group, distributor of YAMAHA Robotics, announced that the LCMR200 industrial robot has won the prestigious German iF Design Award and Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021.
It should also be added that another product from YAMAHA’s wide range, the TRICITY 300 Tricycle City Scooter, also won the same award this year.
The LCMR200 is a modular linear conveyor consisting of a linear motor and a slider for picking and handling workpieces. All carriages can move with high speed, precision and, importantly, independently of each other. Since the work can be carried out in-process on the carriages themselves, the system has a high degree of production space efficiency. It also provides greater freedom in line design and enables rapid changes in production. The motor controller is built into a thin, one-piece module housing made of anodized aluminum that blends in well with surrounding factory equipment, and the design reduces wiring.
The iF Design Award, awarded by the iF Design Foundation based in Hanover, and the Red Dot Design Award, awarded by the German Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, are widely regarded as some of the most prestigious design awards in the world.
The LCMR200 was introduced to the YAMAHA portfolio in July 2020 as a successor to earlier models – in particular the highly acclaimed LCM100 series. As such, a very strong emphasis was placed on maintaining the key advantages of the previous systems: including high-speed movement, precise stopping and positioning of the carriages.
This model also improves on some of the features, including a more robust structure that is better suited to working in environments where foreign objects and static noise are present.
Furthermore, in the latest decorated model, the linear guide and rail have been enlarged and also strengthened while keeping the overall module size the same.
